Two Bald Head Island Conservancy board members recently hosted a fundraiser for the Conservancy, which they dubbed ‘Ready to have a Turtley Awesome Time?.’ Katie Chatas and Kim Blackwellhosted a dual birthday party asking for donations in lieu of gifts to support our mission.
“Kim and I met through our shared love of the work of the Conservancy and then coincidentally figured out we shared a birthday,” said Board President Katie Chatas. “We both are current board members and decided to throw a party for our friends, Conservancy team and board members. We all got to enjoy a beautiful night on BHI and raise some money for an organization that we care deeply about.”
Fundraising on behalf of a non-profit organization, dubbed ‘peer to peer fundraising,’ is an excellent way to show your support. Together, Katie and Kim raised $4,600 for the Bald Head Island Conservancy and will continue to raise funds thanks to an additional unique gift from board member Jim Brown and his wife Devon. The Browns have pledged $1.00 for every hatchling born on our beaches this year.
