Turtle Walk – Members Only

Content Image

The BHI Conservancy’s Turtle Walks are a special experience reserved for members of the conservancy. This program is designed to educate members about the importance of sea turtles and the BHI Conservancy’s efforts to protect them. The Turtle Walks begin with a presentation in the Fleming Classroom, where guests will learn about sea turtles and the BHI Conservancy’s conservation program. The presentation provides valuable information about the biology, ecology, and behavior of sea turtles, and how the BHI Conservancy works to protect these endangered creatures.

After the presentation, guests will accompany the Conservancy staff to the beach to wait for word from the Sea Turtle Team about potential nesting or hatching sea turtle activity. The Turtle Walks are conducted through a special state permit that restricts group sizes in order to conserve this federally protected species. Therefore, reservations and proof of membership are required for this program. As space is limited, guests are encouraged to book their Turtle Walks early.

The Turtle Walks provide a unique opportunity to see sea turtles in their natural habitat and learn about their life cycle. Guests may also witness the release of hatchlings, which is an unforgettable experience. The BHI Conservancy takes great care to ensure that the sea turtles are not disturbed during the Turtle Walks, so guests must follow the Conservancy’s rules and regulations. The Turtle Walks are a must-attend event for nature lovers and conservationists who want to learn more about the fascinating world of sea turtles.

*We cannot guarantee seeing sea turtles on any specific night.*
