Kids Marsh Crabbing & Fishing

The Bald Head Island Conservancy offers an exciting program for kids aged 5-12 years old to get hands-on fishing experience using modern and traditional fishing techniques like rod & reel, hand-lining, and cast-netting on the marsh. The Kids Marsh Crabbing & Fishing program takes place on the marsh, where kids can learn about different marsh plants and animals and their importance to the ecosystem.

No previous experience is required for this program, and all gear, including rods, reels, bait, and nets, will be provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult, who can join in the program at no additional fee. The program is recommended for children aged 5-12, and anyone over the age of 16 who wishes to participate in program-related fishing activities must possess and have on hand an NC Fishing License.

This program provides a unique opportunity for kids to learn about the importance of conservation and protection of the local ecosystem while having fun and learning new skills. It is a great way to introduce kids to the world of fishing and crabbing while exploring the beautiful marshes of Bald Head Island.

Please meet at the Village Creek Access on Federal Road, near Old Baldy. All equipment and bait are provided.
