Let’s Give Back for Giving Tuesday 2023

Giving Tuesday is a worldwide movement of generosity. Every year on the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving, folks around the world spend the day working together and giving back to their communities.

For Giving Tuesday 2023, our wildlife conservation teams could use your support! This year, the Bald Head Island Conservancy aims to raise $15,000 for our Emergency Wildlife Response and Sea Turtle Protection efforts. All donations up to $15,000 will be matched by an anonymous donor and help fund the time required to find and care for injured wildlife, the transportation of wildlife to off-island rehabilitation centers, and new supplies that will help us provide optimal care for the animals.

With the generous help of Conservancy friends and members, we will also be able to purchase crucial equipment for our sea turtle team. Additionally, we hope to pay for the maintenance of the team’s UTVs, which they use to transport equipment like protective turtle nest cages and to patrol the beaches for sea turtles every night during nesting season.

Another way to give back on Giving Tuesday is joining BHIC in cleaning up Bald Head Island! Throughout the day, BHIC staff and volunteers will be working together to remove litter and debris around the island. Keep an eye out for us around the BHI Creek, North and South Bald Head Wynds, East Beach, and the front of the island to join the cleanup.

Make sure you tune into our social media pages on Giving Tuesday as well. We will be going live on the hour to update you on our cleanup progress and where on the island you can go to join us! We will also be posting regular giving updates and wildlife rescue stories from our sea turtle and wildlife conservation teams.

Giving Tuesday is only a few weeks away! Whether funding the protection of Bald Head wildlife or helping us maintain the island’s natural beauty, we hope you will consider giving back with us on November 28. As always, thank you to everyone who supports our mission to discover, learn, preserve and conserve.
