Bald Head Island Conservancy

A Partner in Preservation

Content Image

Conservancy collaborator, Smith Island Land Trust, allows for land protection on Bald Head Island within the Bald Head Island Conservancy mission of preservation. SILT has preserved approximately 50 properties on Bald Head Island. The donations equate to at least 10 million dollars of preserved land.  Preserved land on BHI provides lasting island beauty as well as protection of our ecosystems. There may be financial advantages to an owner to donate a property to SILT.

SILT is a 501C3 organization with a board of directors, separate from BHIC yet working in conjunction with BHIC in a symbiotic way.

For any questions you may have regarding potential land donation or about SILT in general, please visit www.smithislandlandtrust.org or contact President, Marianna Fitz-Hugh mariannaf@aol.com.

While exploring BHI, look for these wooden bollards with plaques marking a donated property.
